Depi’s love for the outdoors was ignited during his formative years at the Lawrence School in Sanawar, nestled in the hills. This passion blossomed throughout his academic journey, leading him to obtain degrees in engineering and an MBA, all while building a successful corporate career lasting over a decade.
After nearly 11 years in the corporate world, Depi decided to pursue his dream of transforming his passion into a full-time endeavour. He authored the trekking guidebook Trekking in Western Himalaya and expanded upon it by creating an expansive 17×17-foot trekking map of the Himalayas. Additionally, he ventured into 3D printing, bringing the Himalayas to life in a new dimension.
Depi also embarked on a trans-Himalayan trek, starting in Kashmir and aiming for the Nepal border. Unfortunately, he had to abandon the journey on the 68th day due to severe weather conditions and flooding in Uttarakhand.
Disturbed by the rampant construction and pollution in urban areas, he sought to establish a sanctuary for himself along the banks of the Ganga in a remote region of Uttarakhand. Embracing sustainable practices, he challenged conventional norms in his construction efforts.
Every alternate year, Depi organises a cycling tour from Kashmir to Kathmandu, and in his spare time, he enjoys transforming scrap materials into unique pieces of art.
He is constantly reinventing himself and doing innovative things. This is how he has moved to the south to start himself new venture – Vallam (meaning water in Malyalam) Trails.
